A study of case categories in Sinhala. In spite of the fact that there are a few previous contemporary studies on the same or allied subject areas, -some of them yet unpublished, -this work of Prof. Chandralal, has a special value and significance, owing to the fact that the present author conducts his study within the theoretical framework of Cognitive Grammar, the latest theory currently popular among Conceptual Structuralists, pertaining to the Semantico-Structural Linguistics, the new theory bring an advanced and refined version of its immediately preceding theory known as Case grammar. The methodology he follows throughout the book is conducive to his laborious task, and the way of treatment of the subject is scientific. The whole work vividly reveals the cognitive foundations of language.
